Merseyside and Liverpool Pest Control

Pest Control in the Liverpool Area has seen a brisk start (2010) which is somewhat unexpected given the relatively colder (weather of this last winter|winter of 2009/10}.

Liverpool Pest and Vermin controllers were kept working with the standard  town centre rodent infestations throughout the winter of 2009/10, but the relatively cold late winter has already seen some black ant problems reported.

The damp summers of the last few years were not to the liking of the hymenoptera (wasps, bees and ants) but 2010 looks like it is going to be a hectic year for flying ant calls.

Frequently ants build nests under the floors of homes and inside cavity walls causing a lot of foraging ants to visit food store areas.

However it is at the annual mating time when they are at their most distressing as they release winged males and winged queens which then mate on the wing.

The appearance of many thousands of these winged ants inside homes can be horrific indeed.

A somewhat new pest was very prevalant in the Merseyside area last season, the Varied Carpet Beetle (Anthrenus verbasci).

It was not common for pest controllers in Merseyside to come across these pests until recently but they seemed to arrive from nowhere in 2008 and already this March has seen sightings of these insects in substantial numbers.

Having a similar life cycle to moths their larvae, called woolly bears can eat natural fibres and can do substantial damage to carpets and natural fabrics. They are a difficult and persistent pest to remove.

We  who are involved in pest control Liverpool note that Bed Bugs are carrying on their come back in the Lancashire, Manchester and Cheshire area, often arriving as unwanted guests in the suitcases of home-coming travellers.

Regularly the first reaction of unlucky people who realise that they have been infested with these hideous,blood-sucking insects is to destroy the old beds and purchase.

This is a costly mistake as despite their name bed bugs don’t just hide in beds and in an infested room will be found anywhere within about fifteen feet of the bed, in cupboards, drawers etc, even in electrical sockets and the new beds become instantly re-infested.

Many people mix up bed bugs with dust mites which are not visible to the naked eye. They both a different type of pest control
